The Impact of ESG on Operators
How Triple Crown Energy Increased Market Value by Decarbonizing.

In this episode, I interview Ryan Keys, President of Triple Crown Energy, a medium-sized EMP in the Permian Basin.
Ryan talks about Triple Crown’s ESG (environment, social governance) journey and discusses:

  • Why Triple Crown goes after a 0.2% methane intensity goal.
  • What Triple Crown achieved a 90% reduction in emissions.
  • How hitting their methane intensity goal increased market value.
  • What revenue premiums & carbon credits are available to producers.
  • How quickly the industry is moving toward “decarbonizing”

This episode is a “preview” to the live case study that Ryan and his Triple Crown team are going to provide to registered attendees of the ESG for Energy online conference on March 17, 2022.

EPA Appendix K – New rules for OGI LDAR surveys

EPA has released their step-by-step guide on how to conduct a LDAR (leak detection and repair) survey using an OGI (optical gas imaging) camera.
Most of you have been using OGI cameras for years to do your LDAR surveys.  With Appendix K, the EPA is now very specific on how you conduct your surveys.
Highlights include:

  • New LDAR operator training requirements.
  • New video management requirements.
  • New survey frequencies (EPA OOOOb/c) – most operators will need to increase their LDAR resources by 2-7x.

Climate Activist Converts to Energy Advocate

Andrew Parker has a PhD in PaleoClimatology. He thought he would become a climate activist.  As an intern for Shell, he learned how energy producers are working hard to produce clean energy. That you can be 100% pro-environment and 100% pro-energy.
Today, Andrew is the Director of ESG & General Manager for SPL, an end-to-end environmental monitoring & measurement company that serves 1,600 oil & gas operators.

In this interview, we discuss:

  • The impact of climate change and what we can do to produce clean energy without harming operators or the environment.
  • How AI will impact the future of methane intensity monitoring.
  • How automation will impact ESG, compliance and operational efficiency.
  • How CleanConnect.ai and SPL can provide autonomous end-to-end methane intensity monitoring that meets new EPA standards.

Autonomous LDAR

How would you like to put your EPA compliance on autopilot?

In this episode, Mark Smith & David Conley (CleanConnect.ai) discuss the impact of AI on Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) programs that are required by the EPA, Canadian EPA, and every U.S. state.

They discuss:

  • Continuous monitoring using AI & computer vision.
  • The AI “Turing” test required to achieve autonomous LDAR.
  • Why the new EPA standards will drive adoption of autonomous LDAR.
  • And, why LDAR teams will be more in demand than ever, even with adoption of AI.

New Visual ECD Monitoring Regulation

On this episode of Digital Roughnecks, we’ll be discussing a new Visual ECD monitoring regulation.

What’s New? Weekly ECD Visual Inspections

  • Weekly visual [OGI] inspection of all air pollution control equipment including ECD (emission control device) aka combustors and VRUs (vapor recovery units)
  • Inspection or monitoring of combustion device to ensure that is operating, including that the pilot light is lit and the auto-igniter is properly functioning.
  • If smoke or emissions are observed for 1 minute in 15 minutes, then immediately shut-in.
  • Ensure vapors from VRU’s are being routed cleanly.
